RPDRUK Series 3 - Episode 6 Review
This week’s episode starts with tensions still high. Scarlett remains p*ssed about being chosen by most of the Queens as the one who should be in the bottom and the rest are shocked as no Queen was picked as a winner last week after Ru deemed their adverts all flops. Debriefing Vanity starts staring the pot (I mean it is nearly Halloween, very fitting) asking the Queens if they think they have what it takes to stay in the competition (usually what happens after is that Queen is sent home so lets see). Before we have a full on Mean Girls watering hole moment Krystal announces they should all get out of Drag.
When the new day in the werkroom arrives you think, great all the Queens will have calmed down and moved on ready for a… oh no, Scarlett is still p*ssed and arguments nearly start but this time Ru Mail interrupts the full on fight from breaking out. When Ru joins the werkroom he brings with him a pair of glasses which can only mean one thing. The library is open! This is honestly my favourite part of the show and one of the things I most look forward to. The Queens take turns in reading each other for filth, some joking, others spitting venom and using it as a bit of a therapy session, (aka Scarlett, you get it all out girl)! None of the Queens massively flopped and I think my winner was Kitty Scott Claus. Ru however, gives the win to equally deserving Choriza May.
Mini challenge complete Ru then tells the Queens they will be playing the Snatch Game for the main challenge! I have said it before but I honestly don’t get why Snatch Game is held in such high regard. I actually find it really boring and just awkward instead of funny most of the time. Still I feel it will never leave Drag Race so I will embrace it over hating it.
Last week Ru took part blame for the adverts being so pants because he didn’t coach the Queens enough during they run-throughs. This became obvious that Ru was going to let it happen again and really went into depth with what characters each Queen could do and nearly swayed everyone off the path of what they first thought they would do.
During the Snatch Game the guest contestants were Nadine Coyle and Judi Love. For Snatch Game the Queens settled on the following characters
Kitty as Gemma Collins
Krystal as Charity Shop Sue
Choriza as Margarita Pracatan
Scarlett as Macaulay Culkin
Vanity as Jocelyn Jee Eisen
River Medway as Amy Childs
Ella Vaday as Nigella Lawson
For me it wasn’t the best Snatch Game ever played but a few of the Queens did hit every ball thrown at them by Ru. The ones that didn’t do so well didn’t massively flop to give the Queens credit. For me, my winner was Kitty or Ella with my bottom as Krystal and River and actually Scarlett. Ru seemed to be loving it but I felt it was just one joke that was him screaming at the camera.
Snatch Game finished the Queens return to the werkroom to get ready for the runway that has a theme of feeling fruity.
The runway was rather mixed, we had some really fun and creative looks but at the same time some utter flops too where Scarlett dressed like a lettuce rather than a fruit trying to claim it was a lime. My favourites of the night had to be Ella, Krystal and Chroiza, my only criticism of Choriza was that it was maybe a little obvious but I still LOVED it! My least favourites, River Medway followed by Vanity.
The judges then give the Queens their critics and some I did agree with and others not. One I will address is Krystal, yes that look was a very Krystal look and we have seen a similar silhouette before BUT that’s her look and it works for her. For me I would say she knows what works for her and went for it. That’s not bad it’s good, she knows her brand.
For me my tops were Kitty and Ella and I agreed with Ella being picked as the winner as her outfit did fit the theme better than Kitty’s. Had Kitty had a killer look I feel she might have finally won a badge. My bottom two would be River and Scarlett. I know some might be shocked by that but her outfit didn’t fit the theme at all and her Snatch Game for me was one note and a bit meh, just being honest. Ru doesn’t feel the same and picks River and Chroiza to lip sync.
River and Choriza battle it out and I really couldn't call who should win. Both looked a little dreadful and it wasn’t really anything special of a performance. When the lip sync ends and the camera turns to Ru, he says Choriza’s name… but then also says Rivers, he then tells them both he needed more from the lip sync and tells both to sashay away… DOUBLE ELIMINATION! I was actually stunned.
Mumma Ru is not f*cking around this season. I guess we all forget just like there can be double saves, there can also be double eliminations too. What did you think, should both have gone home? Let us know on our socials!
