RPDRUK Series 3 - Episode 8 Review

When the Queens enter the werkroom after Scarletts elimination it really brought home how there are only 4 Queens left! All the Queens now have badges so we can finally stop the storyline of Kitty doesn’t have a badge! When the new day in the werkroom arrives Ru joins the Queens to task them with an acting challenge of a low budget sci-fi film ‘The Bra Wars’. Kitty as the winner of last weeks challenge is given the role of assigning the roles. Instead of just assigning the roles Kitty decides to dress up as a casting director and makes the Queens audition. All we learn from this is that none of the Queens can do accents. Kitty then assigns each of the Queens their roles and they get ready to head to set.

Once on set the Queens join Michelle Visage as the casting Director. During filming only a couple of the Queens really get in their heads but Michelle manages to guide them out of it and filming really seems to go rather smoothly. However, you can never tell until we see the full film edited together.

For the runway theme this week we have ‘Scene Stealers’ which I really enjoyed, all the Queens brought it.

All the looks were so different it was hard judge who did best! I think for idea my favourite was Ella Vaday for sure. The Drag version of an Umpa Lumpa was brilliant (my only critic and this is being really picky, is it could have been a little more polished, when they did a close up the belt etc seemed a little costume shop but that is me being really critical, otherwise it was brilliant)! My other favourite for being so polished was Krystal’s look, I mean do we expect anything else, of course not.

We then get to watch The Bra Wars film it was great. All the Queens did brilliantly and it was a joy to watch. I love the fact our two acting novices did so well too, Vanity was just a head for the whole thing but still managed not to fade into the background was great and even Krystal who struggled with lines came across like an acting pro, all her little movements and reactions were Oscar worthy (okay maybe not but it was still top Drag Race acting)! Our pro actors Kitty and Ella also did great but that wasn’t surprising due to their previous acting experience.

If I then had to pick my tops and bottoms I would have probably gone for Krystal and Ella Vaday as tops. Krystal for having no acting experience actually really stood out for me paired with her runway look making it top worthy for sure, Ella because her performance was great and the idea for a drag Umpa Lumpa was just, well brilliant. It gave me the same feeling joy when it came out as when Love Misisi (from Drag Race Holland) did Greta from Gremlins. For bottoms, I don’t have one, you really can’t pick, they all did so well it would be cruel too. Ru also thinks the same and instead of sending anyone home Ru picks two tops to lip sync it out, All Stars style. The two tops are Ella and Kitty and both battle for the win to a Girls Aloud track. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the two but both killed the performance and it was no surprise when Ru awards them a double win!

What did everyone else think of the episode? Was it worthy of a double win and no one being sent home? Let us know on our socials.
