RPDRUK - Series 2 - Episode 8

Before we jump into this, there are spoilers below if you haven’t watched the episode yet. All the comments below are just my fun opinion, its a TV show don’t get upset if I didn’t like your favourite Queen!

It’s the stretch of the competition and only 5 Queens remain after Sister Sisters elimination last week. The Queens begin with discussing what everyone is thinking… we have a sure top 4 right? Ellie is the only one without a badge so surely this means she’s next to go? Ellie of course is having none of it and to be honest good for her for standing up for herself. I do really feel for her though as she has come so close many times, she just couldn't push herself above whoever she was up against that week.

De-dragged and a new day in the werkroom is here, time for Ellie to prove she has what it takes to win a badge? To start Ru walks into the werkroom and I’m sorry but what was that wig. I’m not sure who said Ru you look great, go for it but god it was something else wasn’t it. Anyway for this week Ru asks the Queens to get all masculine and to perform his track Kitty Girl as masc as they can. For ‘quick drag’ the Queens actually looked really good. I mean Ellie looked like this was a full on look ready for the runway if you ask me.

Ru awards the masc award to Ellie but I think A’Whora had some hilarious comments which really gave it the masc’ness for me. I also love how the show took the piss out of something rather horrible that is said in the Queer community, so round of applause producers for that.

Mini challenge done and Ru announces that for the maxi challenge the Queens must put on a comedy show. Ellie assigns the order after winning the mini challenge, although correct my if I am wrong, but I never heard Ru say that? Did Ellie just assume? Either way, all hell breaks loose as Ellie assigns the order

A’Whora, Ellie, Bimini, Lawrence and Tayce.

A’Whora and Lawrence literally have steam coming out of their ears. They are so mad it gets to the point where I actually thought chairs might be thrown around, or for it to be like that scene in Mean Girls where Lindsay Lohan imagines launching herself over the table at Rachel McAdams. I mean I did really feel for Ellie (again). Yes they are all sisters but like Tayce said, it’s a competition. Ellie has zero badges and needs all the help she can get. If she put it in an order than benefitted every Queen she would be setting herself up for potentially going home. Anyway the Queens get ready to go rehearse with Alan Carr. Alan gives good advice to each Queens which must be hard to give advice on something like this, as sometimes it depends on the room for if it will be funny or not. Its a bit like when you tell someone a story and they had to be there to find it funny, it sounds hilarious to you but when said to someone else it depends on them for if they will find it funny.

Rehearsals done and its showtime baby! For the comedy show and joining our usual judges we had British female comedy icon Dawn French! I mean what a treat and did’t she look GORGEOUS!

As there aren’t many Queens left I will do a quick rundown of how I felt each Queen did.

First up despite having a meltdown about it was A’Whora. I mean its hard to judge A’Whora as nearly all of her set or at least the main jokes were censored. We got to know a little bit of the subject which was to do with anal but I would really love to hear what A’Whora said. Otherwise everything else A’Whora said / did I thought was good, seems she isn’t a comedy Queen. Maybe the only thing maybe open the show by saying hello everyone etc. She kinda just went right in. Also she could have done a funny thing of I’m up first and this is a first time doing comedy so done a funny set around first times. But hey ho, is what it is.

Ellie Diamond - Giving herself one of the favourite spots, it was okay. I found some bits funny but nothing CRAZY hysterical. I thought the scary ELLIE LIKES DICK voice was funny the first time but otherwise it was a little lost on me. It reminded me of when Alyssa and Alaska did that duo comedy set together.

Bimini, Bimini, Bimini - The best for me out of everyone. It flowed really nicely from joke to joke and I did laugh out loud a few times! The only criticism was maybe the look. It did look rather gloomy compared to the other Queens.

Lawrence Chaney - Now when Lawrence came out I was sold! I laughed and was like right she’s got this. Here comes the fourth badge… then the rest of the show happened and it took too long to get to any jokes, and when it did I was like ugh I forgot what the story was about. So if you clipped the start - amazing, winner, but overall sadly made me forget the funny start ever happened.

Tayce - closing the show, as Tayce isn’t a comedy Queen I actually thought she did really well. During judges comments Dawn French said she could relate to Lawrence. But I kinda felt that way for Tayce if you ask me, I mean who doesn’t love beans on toast!

What I will say, having no audience there must have made it ten times worse for the Queens. I think if some of them had people to play off in the audience it would have been a totally different outcome. I do feel all the Queens did well and again no one massively flopped, so well done ladies!

Then came the runway looks which had the theme of ‘stoned on the runway - dripping in jewels’. Now I’m not going to lie, although many of the looks were killer this week as a stand alone look, I do feel some could have been maybe a little more clever. I mean no-one did a stoner look? I guess it is the BBC. But my favourite was probably Bimini, it gave me very Lydia Lescabies vibes (google her if you haven’t seen her drag).

For me the tops and bottoms… ugh such a hard one. I think maybe I would say… Bimini for the win and Ellie and Lawrence.Shocking I know! This isn’t how Ru voted though and besties A’Whora and Tayce in the bottom. When Ru said it I was genuinely shocked and gutted all at the same time. These two need to be top 4!

Still is what it is and after the lip sync we had to say goodbye to A’Whora! I truly am gutted though. I’m going to leave it there so I can go cry in the bathroom.
