RuPaul's Drag Race Holland Season 2 - Episode 6

Before we jump into this remember there are spoilers below if you haven’t watched the episode yet. All the comments below are just my fun opinion, its a TV show don’t get upset if I didn’t like your favourite Queen!

Drama! The only way to explain the episode this week, full on William Season 4 Drag Race drama. Before we get to that though we have a whole episode to review. The episode starts with the Queen discussing who they think will be next to leave the competition but are interrupted by Ru’s video message and Fred. Fred isn’t the only one in the Werkroom this week and he calls in the pit crew and a handful of them enter… Fred then calls even more of the pit crew and they just kept coming, I know Holland is a wet country but I didn’t know it literally rained men! Fred then asks the pit crew to drop their shorts to reveal that they are all wearing jock straps. I must admit I know its a bit of fun but I do really hate challenges like this. I feel it just pushes that whole narrative that gay men are obsessed with sex and are just dying to see every man naked. This can cause issues for the gay men in the real world when the homophobes have issues. Either way the challenge was to match up the emojis painted onto the pit crews bums with just 8 attempts. My Little Puny matched the most so was awarded a little treat for the main challenge.

For the main challenge this week the Queens were asked to host a morning TV show and act as the presenters, there were different roles / characters to play, as the mini challenge winner My Little Puny got to decide her role first. The rest of the roles were left for the Queens to fight over. Tabitha and Keta Minaj had the only real argument over roles but this was soon settled by My Little Puny choosing Keta Minaj to co host with her.

During the challenge Keta and My Little Puny did the best and really worked well together, the others just did okay sadly. During Vanessa’s set her turban came flying off and after filming had ended she discussed it with the Queens which Vivaldi didn’t like. A little spat on set sparks up between the two Queens but in true Drag Race style it didn’t end there! Once back on the werkroom Vanessa and Vivaldi carry the spat on and this is when the DRAMA starts. As the tension builds and builds Vanessa finally reveals a secret Vivaldi has been keeping… that she has a phone in her hotel room (something which is against the rules on Drag Race, the Queens are meant to be cut off from the outside world). This then escalates the drama and Vivaldi leaves the werkroom with the two screaming the F-word at each other.

The tension from the day before enters the werkroom on elimination day even all the way to the runway. Before I get into that I will talk about the looks walked. The theme was ‘Opposites Attract’ and I’m gutted to say this has been the first runway where Holland has really let me down. I just felt uninspired by most of the looks where usually these Queens go above and beyond. One Queen saved the category from being a total flop and that as Keta Minaj. Her Yin and Yang runway looks had reveals flipping one into the other and I LOVED it! It was so cleverly done and fit the theme perfectly. With all the looks walked Fred brings up the elephant in the room, Vivaldi and the phone. Vivaldi sort of gives an apology and Fred is clearly very disappointed in her and admits he doesn’t know what to do so asks each Queen for advice, they all basically say rules and rules and that they think Vivaldi should be eliminated. For me I would have to agree. Although I don’t think Vivaldi would have used her phone to look up things to help her in the competition I do feel rules are there for a reason and if you break them… it’s curtains for you. If I was Vivaldi I would probably walk to be honest, she must know Fred can’t crown her now. Fred however decides to think about it a little longer and the judges give their critics which I did agree with. The judges then crown Keta Minaj as the winner of the challenge which leaves the bottom two to decide. I really thought Fred would eliminate Vivaldi but instead he choose to put her in the bottom along with Tabitha. The Queens lip sync it out and Fred decides to send Tabitha home. Do I agree, yes if you exclude the phone but I just don’t think you can and I find it a little unfair.
