RuPaul's Drag Race Holland Season 2 Episode 5

Before we jump into this remember there are spoilers below if you haven’t watched the episode yet. All the comments below are just my fun opinion, its a TV show don’t get upset if I didn’t like your favourite Queen!

Drag Race Holland dropped its weekly episode and this week was full of emotion! To start the Queens are given a mini challenge of being officials and only given 30 minutes to interview the couple, write their speech and get into drag! I mean wow… tough mini challenge. Why was this mini challenge so special? Well back in 2001 the Netherlands was the first country to legalise same-sex-marriage and at midnight 4 couples got married. Joining the Queens is one of the couples, Dolf and Gert. The Queens all took very different approaches but they were all hilarious! My favourite by far was Vivaldi, it was the perfect amount of grotesqueness without stepping over the mark. Fred however gave the mini challenge win to Keta Minaj who was funny but I have seen stutters been played funnier. Ceremony complete the Queens are then joining by even more special guests, their friends and family!

We had the following pairings

Vivaldi and her Mother, Vanessa and her Partner, Keta Minaj and her mother, My Little Puny and her Sister, The Countess and her close friend and finally Tabitha and her Sister. Once everyone is joined they all split off to get ready. Fred goes round the room and touches speaks to each of the pairings about why they are so close to this person and I honestly cried so much. Mostly at Vanessa and her partners story. It was so touching to see two people who just fell in love with each other regardless of gender etc and a couple who have fully supported each other through everything!

Before I well up again let’s jump to the main stage! The theme back to my roots was more clear in some pieces over others but I did think everyone looked fabulous. Here are my highs and lows.

My Little Puny and her Sister - I really liked the costume and using their Dad’s cartoon drawings to make the outfits. Both matched and no one out did the other which is often the case! I really loved this but I did get what the judges said at the end and that if you looked at it from their point of view it didn’t tell the story. I just felt it as I had the back story already.

Tabitha and her Sister - Both looked fabulous and Tabitha did a good job of making her Sister fit into the family resemblance side but for me the outfits didn’t tell a story and were a bit… meh! Sorry Tabitha!

Keta Minaj and her Mother - This was breathtaking! It really reminded me of how strong Envy Peru’s look was last year! It had that same close energy and I was eating every single little bit of it up!

Vanessa and her Partner - I mean, the transformation was incredible! Especially seems her partner shaved his beard, but for me the outfits were a little bit fancy dress costume. Although it told a story I couldn’t get past that costume aspect sadly.

The Countess and her friend - Both looked INCREDIBLE! But sadly the story didn’t sit for me. At the start The Countess said her friend helped her get off the street and from addiction but they were both living it up and partying on the stage. If we are going back to the roots then maybe a bit of story of her helping her become the Countess or being this beacon of light would have been a much better story to tell.

Vivaldi and her Mother - I didn’t get the story but I honestly didn’t care! Her Mum knitted those outfits, truly incredible and I loved the energy she gave on stage. Big round of applause there.

Before the judges feedback Fred makes each pairing turn to each other and say why they love them. Oh god pass the tissues again! After the emotional words of love the judges give their critics. For me, my top of the week would have to be Keta Minaj! It was the strongest look with a story for me. My weakest, sadly the Countess and Tabitha. The judges had different feelings and gave the win to Vanesa and put 3 Queens in the bottom! Tabitha, The Countess and My Little Puny. Two I agree with but My Little Puny looked far too good to be put in the bottom! Either way the Queens lip sync to a Ru song and it was… interesting shall we say. It wasn’t the strongest from anyone and I’m not sure if that’s because their were three Queens on the stage or it just didn’t suit any of them. Either way The Countess finally meets her end and has to Sashay Away!

Uh - what an emotional week that was, lets hope next week we get a bit of fun back… although the teaser for next week looks far from it!
