Elimination interview with Arantxa Castilla-La Mancha
Arantxa - thank you for serving fabulous senorita. What do you think it is about you that made you the perfect fit for the cast of Drag Race UK vs The World?
Apart from my almost perfect fake English accent, I think my personality was right for this season. If there’s one thing that all my sisters have in common it is their big hearts. We all made a little family day one and cared for each other every single day on and off set.
What were your thoughts on the Drag Race UK queens before you came?
Before filming UK vs The World, the only UK Queen I knew personally was Choriza May so… I didn’t have a good image of UK drag race queens.
Did they teach you any new British words, phrases or likes?
Actually, it was the opposite. The girls (especially Tia) wanted to learn some Spanish so I made sure everyone knew how to curse people out in Spanish by the end of filming.
If you could do it all over again, is there anything you would do differently?
In Divina De Campo’s wise words, I don’t think. My first time in Drag Race I was consumed by anxiety, dysphoria and depression. I did not have fun at all. So my goal for UK vs The World was not to win the crown, but to enjoy every second of the experience. And I did!
Who is your money on for the win?
Choriza! Not only because I think she’s one of the most talented and hard-working people I have ever known, but because she stayed over me so she better make crying on TV worth it!
What’s next for Arantxa?
Drag is over for me. I’m kidding! I’m so excited to travel the world and perform ‘til my last breath. I’ve been working on a few projects like music, a comedy tour and a book that will hopefully come out this year! Also, my Spanish sister and I have a new podcast coming out very very soon. Oh, and I want to get my tits done so, please, buy tickets to my shows. I need the money.
