Exclusive Interview with Corazon
Corazon, welcome to Spill the Tea my dear. Outside of Drag Race Philippines (which we will get to) you are a crowned pageant queen with many titles. What made you want to take on Drag Race?
I was born to perform and to showcase my talent especially raise the flag for the Philippines pageant queens.
How did Drag Race fair up in comparison to other pageants you have competed in?
Still it’s a competition. The difference is that the question and answer portion and the lip sync for your life.
How was it taking part in the show compared to your expectations of what it would be like?
The pressure and competition is on… the drama is on fire!
This week you won the mini challenge, did you think those 15 seconds helped you when grabbing bits for the design challenge?
Yes but the crepe paper is not working on the sewing machine! Haahaha but then again during the preparation i forgot that wearing dress from my suitcase is forbidden…
You stated that you make your own costumes, why do you think this design challenge got the better of you?
Maybe its not really my time… we always learn from our mistakes… sooner or later we are going to make it right.
If you could, what one challenge would you have loved to stick around for?
Girl group and snatch game… :) I know I’ll excel with these challenges.
Now, let’s not forget losing is the new winning (as RuPaul says), getting on the show is a huge achievement which opens many doors but what do you hope the future holds for you?
I will conquer every drag stage all over the world to showcase what I can give and what I couldn't show them... I can’t wait to do it with my Drag Race Philippines season 1 sisters.
Shout-out time! What queer performer deserves a shout from you and why? - This can be a drag King, Queen or anything in-between or simply a queer artist doing their thing.
All the filipino OG queens who inspired us, the drag queens of Philippines, to showcase our talent and continue the legacy they started. And all the kings and queens of the Philippines pageantry that represented the Philippines in the international pageant scene.
