Exclusive with River Medway

River, hello, my love, how are you doing? Fabulous, thank you, and you?
Very well, thank you.

How's Dragon been so far?
Really, really good. Very busy but lots of fun.

Happy to return? How was doing the carpet again?
Oh, absolutely. Last year I was speeding down that carpet, and this year I took my time. I was spinning around, walking side to side, and then by the end of it, you're like... [River jokes around as if she is out of breath].

It's a long walk.
I wish I was wearing my Apple Watch so I could have counted how many steps I did.

Getting those steps in for sure. One thing that I love about you is the fact that you love Miley [Cyrus]. Oh, absolutely.
I’m very proud to tell you I was in the 0.05% of her top Spotify listeners last year. Really! I actually don't know where I was on, I was quite high up. She was my #1 artist.

What do you think of Endless Summer?
Great. Amazing!

Favorite song?
River... It's a great song. River, Jaded, and...

Thousand Miles is up there for me.
That's a great one. I love her, I think she's so great, everything about her, talk about her, I could talk about her all day long.

Same, and great, that’s all the rest of this interview is.
Oh, great!

Would you love to do a collab with her?
Of course, she loves the gays so good for her.

You need to get into her little clan.
Yeah, I know.

I was very jealous when I saw those intimate performances. I got very jealous, I was like how do I get a ticket? Don't I just get a free pass because I'm gay?
Yeah, how do we do that? How do I get there? Why wasn’t I invited? Like... never met different country like...

Yeah, all those obstacles in the way, ugh! Now you love music and musical theatre as well. And you've been doing a show!
Yes! I'm in a musical right now called ‘Unfortunate’. It's the untold story of Ursula the sea witch, I'm playing Ariel. So it's a parody musical about the Little Mermaid, very filthy, it’s 16 plus! Some people don't read that, and they bring their children. It's erm... it's bad. But we're in London until mid-February. Then we are on a UK tour until the summer.

Nice, oh wow so going everywhere.
We're going everywhere! I was actually there last night and back there on Monday, busy girl.

Oh gosh, preserve that voice. If you could do any musical though, what would it be?
Oh, no, I can’t answer this question, I get asked all the time. The sky's the limit is what I'm gonna say.

Make a list, roll the dice.
I'll make a list.

Now would you ever return to the Drag Race scene to compete again?
Yeah, if I can fit it. Of course, why not.

Would you love to do like a UK All Stars or would you prefer to do a Vs the world?
Where you have all the different franchises under one roof? I feel like I would like to do one abroad, that would be fun. You know, do any of the other countries. I would also do the UK one again. I’m not like I must go back tomorrow and do it. I don’t need a ru-demption or.

If you were on who wants to be millionaire - drag version and you’ve got stuck on a question. Who are you calling?
It would depend on what it was. Mmmm probably Tia Kofi. She's got all this knowledge, really good general knowledge, and just random stuff. I feel like she would know the answer to a lot of things. Although she was on the Weakest Link, but I don't know how well she did on that.

What do you hope 2024 brings you?
Well, I mean, I'm doing Unfortunate until the summer. So I'm just looking that far ahead, to be honest. I'd love to do more musical theatre. It's what I love, as long as I'm happy doing what I love, it'll be good.
