Exclusive with Turing
Turing, welcome to Spill the Tea my dear. Let’s start with, when did you discover that you wanted to do drag?
It was 2017 when I decided that I will leave woodworking and sewing to do drag professionally.
How did it feel to be selected to be a part of the very first season of Drag Race Philippines?
Super duper happy! I have been dreaming about it years back and to now be part of the show I only used to watch is such a dream come true.
Did you feel cheerleading in college helped you be the fierce lip syncer you are today?
Yes but it's really more of my theatre background. Theatre taught me how to feel and internalize the message of the song which I hope audience appreciates.
Let’s not forget losing is the new winning (as RuPaul says), getting on the show is a huge achievement which opens many doors but what do you hope the future holds for you?
Two words: International Shows. I really do hope that I was able to show that my talent is worthy to be showcased to the world.
During this week’s episode you had a very emotional goodbye with the queens and the judges, how did it feel to make such an impact on everyone?
Definitely surprising because I was just being my authentic self. I did not expect that I would make such an impact not only to the members of the show but the viewers as well.
How did it feel to hear Jiggly call out that you didn’t disappoint her?
It feels good to know because we're very very close and it's never a good feeling to disappoint someone especially someone close to your heart.
I loved your saying ‘You just had a bad day, not bad drag’, do you take this into everything you do and where did it come from?
I honestly don't know where it came from. It's really just something I live and breathe. It makes everything lighter. A bad day day is just a bad day, it's not a bad life. I am very blessed.
Shout-out time! What queer performer deserves a shout from you and why? - This can be a drag King, Queen or anything in-between or simply a queer artist doing their thing.
No one else comes to mind but Precious Paula Nicole because I know her personally and I love her. She deserves all the praises and love she's getting right now and more. I don't know anyone who has that much charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent (aside from me lol), has a purer heart and still remains as grounded as she is.
Drag Race Philippines continues every Wednesday, exclusively on the streamer of all things drag, WOW Presents Plus. To subscribe click here.
