RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16 Episode 12 Review

After Mhi’ya’s elimination, the queens all congratulate Sapphira for her win, except Q who is pissed off about not winning. She refuses to say anything about the situation but it is clear that she disapproves of Saphira’s win and when she tells her‚ ‘I love you‘, Q doesn’t say anything back. Ouch! When the queens unite in the werqroom the next day, the tension between Q and Sapphira is still high and Q even says that in her opinion, Sapphira’s win is undeserved. Mama Ru enters the room before the two can battle it out though.

For the mini challenge, the queens need to press their face into a t-shirt, which a member of the pit crew is wearing, which is something new but quite fun! Plane Jane finally wins her first mini- challenge.

As a maxi challenge, the queens have to design a public restroom in teams of two, which is an odd idea. It seems a bit far-fetched, that a drag queen has to come up with the interior design of a bathroom. Maybe it could be seen as coming up with a concept for one's own drag show with a specific theme.

Morphine and Q are in a team and Morphine worries that Q’s emotions could get in the way of her success in the challenge. Dawn and Nymphia seem to get along well in their team, however, Nymphia is a bit too coo-coo banana, which throws Dawn off. Sapphira and Plane are the final team and Plane fears being overshadowed by Sapphira, as it happened to Morphine and Nymphia in the last challenge.

The queens then have to design their little restrooms, which seems fun but also a lot of effort. Morphine struggles to paint the wall and Plane sabotages Dawn and Nymphia, which causes a little paint fight amongst the queens.

As the queens get ready for the runway, Sapphira confronts Q about their little drama earlier and Q apologizes, which leads to the two making up again. Plane shares her insecurities and that she fears that the queens could see past her strong facade. In a moment of vulnerability, she almost starts crying and is comforted by her sisters. Mama Sapphira tells her to write down her worries and then rip the piece of paper to shreds. A sweet moment between the both, showing once again Sapphira’s motherly side and another side to Plane Jane.

The category for the runway this week is ‚chain reaction’ and all looks are nice and polished. Dawn’s one is a bit boring, whereas Sapphira takes the crown with her dominatrix doggy. Finally, we see what the bathroom challenge is all about. Michelle and Carson get a little tour of each bathroom. First up are Q and Morphine with a hell-themed room. Morphine is slipping up again similar to the last challenge. Next are Nymphia and Dawn with an art or rather fart-themed bathroom, which is a funny concept but the delivery falls a bit short, especially from Dawn. Michelle’s and Carson’s German accents starts to become a bit annoying. On Drag Race US they seem to love a German accent it seems.

The last bathroom is Sapphira’s and Jane’s and it is 1920’s themed. The two are the strongest and funniest out of the bunch, as Plane keeps using different names for Sapphira and their energy together is quite fun. They both end up winning this week, well deserved!

Morphine and Dawn end up in the bottom, it is Dawn’s first time lip-syncing but the body-ody-ody song is against her, as she is lip-syncing against the BBL queen of the season. Unsurprisingly, she’s going home and Morphine sent home another girl, making her the new lip sync assassin!
