RuPaul's Drag Race UK Vs The World - Episode 4
Another week and another episode of Drag Race is upon us, but I’m not sure the world has recovered from Jimbo's elimination yet. Either way the show carries on and all I can say is, buckle up kids, because this episode doesn’t get much better!
The queens enter the werkroom to see Jimbo’s, well very Jimboesque message which cheers the Queens up a little. Once they all sit down to de-brief things get a little awkward for Janey Jacke as she reveals if she had won the lip sync that JuJuBee would have been sent home (what I personally think is the right choice).
When the new day arrives the mood has lifted and everyone seems ready to take on a new challenge, sadly for me it’s my least favourite. The Snatch Game, but this time there is a little twist and they are doing a family edition version (at first this didn't make any sense to me but all became clear). As Pangina won the last challenge she got to pick the three members going to be on her side of the table which was Baga and JuJu. Pangina then picks for her team to be on the special guest side who for this Snatch Game is Katie Price. Which leaves team (or family) Michelle as Janey, Blu and Mo.
The Queens do their little run-through with Ru with the only notable moment when Blu got a little bit emotional when talking about her time on the show. I think honestly Blu is feeling it not having her bestie Cheryl around. Either way there wasn’t much else to report so lets skip to the Snatch Game.
For the Snatch Game itself, I mean I say this every time but I’m rarely excited by it. More often than not its a flop with just one person doing well and I still don’t really get how doing well in it is kept at such a high regard. This Snatch Game was no different and we had some awkward moment answers along with some funny moments that were just bizarre. The queens looked great this time, don’t get me wrong, they were all pretty spot on but when it came to giving answers Baga Chipz and Blu triumphed and showed that the Brits really do comedy best. Both of their performances really did show how to do Snatch Game and they left Ru howling throughout. The flops sadly for me were Janey, Pangina and Mo who although embodied their characters, they just sadly picked ones that weren’t funny. Which left their answers to the questions as a little bit of a stretch or struggle.
With Snatch Game done the queens begin to get ready and have a chat amongst themselves about ‘cancel culture’ and if you should have an opinion or not. Most raised their concerns about speaking out or making jokes sometimes because of the fear of getting cancelled. But as they rightfully all decided its drag! It’s literally men in wigs and heels, it’s not serious and if you are that offended maybe take a little look in the mirror.
For the mainstage and runways we have guest judges Clara Amfo, BBC Radio One DJ and actress Michelle Keegan (alongside Ru and Michelle). The queens then present their runways for a category of ‘Luck be a lady’ which to be honest I didn’t get and after the queens walked I still didn’t but either way we had some god awful and some okay runways.
My favourites this week had to be Blu and Mo who were on opposite sides of the spectrum but both were equally amazing! I loved the idea of Pangina but it was just a bit too bulky for me to actual love as a top outfit. My least favourite JuJu. What was that? I mean I know when she did the arm what it was meant to be but that was possibly the worst outfit I have ever seen. Snatch game and the runways considered my tops had to be Baga and Blu which the judges agreed on. Ru then tells the queens that at this point in the competition if you aren’t in the top, you are in the bottom. This meant all the other queens apart from Blu and Baga are in the bottom.
When the queens go to un-tuck and start fighting for why they should stay I really couldn’t tell how it was going to go. For me, despite it being an okay performance in Snatch Game JuJu be gotta go.
When Blu and Baga took to the stage to lip-sync it out to Alexandra Burke’s ‘Let it go’ I thought Blu was the best for sure. Was it the best lip sync ever, no but it wasn’t a total flop. Blu was granted the win by Ru and then it happened. Blu pulled her lipstick and the name on it… Pangina! I was honestly stunned, I hadn’t really thought about Baga or Blu taking out strong competition, despite that being how Pangina has voted all along. I know why people will be mad but when Pangina lost it walking away I thought Ru might intervene which of course he didn’t this time. Which left just poor Blu shaking as they had to hear Pangina cry all the way to the back.
Was I shocked at the elimination, yes. Is that who I would have picked, no. Is that how the game is played? YES! Were you shocked at this week’s elimination? Let us know on our socials and for those who want to read the exit interview with Pangina click here.
