RuPaul's Drag Race Holland - Episode 5 Review / Highlights
Now before we jump into this there are spoilers below if you haven’t watched the episode yet. All the comments below are just my fun opinion, its a TV show don’t get upset if I didn’t like your favourite Queen!
Another week is here and the Queens are back in the Werkroom for another round of challenges.
This week the first challenge set to the Queens is a naked photoshoot. Now I must say I have to really applaud all of the Queens. I am very comfortable in my body but even this would have thrown me a little. Each of the Queens bodies are very different and I think they all looked stunning! For that reason we aren’t picking a favourite… you are all winners baby!!!
One thing that really did stick out for me though was when Chelsea Boy mentioned how the gay community is very judgemental. I do agree and think this challenge showed how beautiful you can be in your own skin and you should love what you have. If someone doesn’t like you for how you look, stuff them, if they don’t like you now they aren’t going to be the loving caring person who would take care of you should anything happen and when your good looks fade!
The show picked Janey Jacke as the winner for the challenge, which then led to the Queens getting ready for the Snatch Game!
Now it was very hard to keep up with reading the subtitles and watch the Queens movements at the same time, it may have been that or that I didn’t know most of the people but I wasn’t blown away by any of the Queens performances. Although having said that I didn’t know who she was portraying, but Miss Envy Peru did a hilarious job even without me knowing who it was and Chelsea Boy did a perfect Joe Exotic! So for that reason they were the top Snatchers for me.
Snatch Game done we move to the runway, now I got a little confused as it seems the Queens said the challenge was ‘Split Personalities’ but Ru seemed to say ‘Half man half Queen’. Either way some of the Queens did better than others when comparing similar ideas, Miss Envy Peru clearly showed up Miss Abby OMG with how to do the challenge the way Ru said. However, Chelsea Boy and Ma’Ma Queen turned the challenge on its head. When it came to the main stage I was actually really disappointed by the judges comment towards Ma’Ma Queen and Chelsea Boy. The Queens are always told to think outside the box and not do the obvious and here they seemed to go against that. Even with Ma’Ma Queen stating so bravely she doesn’t identify with male or female stereotypes. However, playing devils advocate if Miss Envy Peru was able to push through and get naked despite body issues then maybe the Queens could have just embraced the runway theme. Just a thought but I do totally support the Queens and what they did and thought they looked stunning all the same.
Although I loved Miss Envy Peru, Chelsea Boy, Ma’Ma Queen and Janey Jackes takes on the runway, I do think Janey Jacke had the best look for me if we are going more with what Ru said the assignment was (but overall going with spilt personalities it would be Ma Ma Queen).
Now for the bottom two… SPOILERS BELOW, proceed with caution.
I agree with Miss Abby OMG being in the bottom and maybe Sederginne for the look, it could have been more polished. The song choice by the show was meh… so I don’t agree with Fred saying they performed poorly when the song choice was the issue. Then when Miss Abby OMG was saved I was stunned… Sederginne has been a strong contender and this was Miss Abby Omg’s 3rd time in the bottom. Girl she had her chance, clearly it wasn’t working. It was her time and I feel it was the wrong choice. Sedergine has brought so much more to the show even if it wasn’t to everyones taste.
Either way if Abby is in the bottom again no matter how hard she lip syncs I can’t see how they can justify her staying.
