RPDR - Season 13 - Episode 7 Review

Before we jump into this, there are spoilers below if you haven’t watched the episode yet. All the comments below are just my fun opinion, its a TV show don’t get upset if I didn’t like your favourite Queen!

The US Queens walk into the workroom after the elimination of the Season 13 Mother, Tamisha Iman. The show will miss her presence for sure but the show must go on.

It’s a new day in the werkroom or should we say in the library? Oh yes honey the mini challenge this week was one of my favourite challenges, the reading challenge. Ru whips out those glasses and the library is open!
Some Queens clearly have whit and timing down but others really missed the mark and sometimes their reads came across as mean rather than funny.

Let’s be honest, it wasn’t the best reading challenge of them all. Some of the Queens reads to the others just weren't clever or well thought out and just seemed to be generic mean comments which clearly then didn’t hit. I had to agree with Ru though Gottmik was the best and deserved the mini challenge win.

Ru then announces that the Queens will be joining Ross Matthews for the Bossy Rossy Ruboot show where the Queens will take on improv. This time Ru didn’t let the Queens pick who they were going to be with and instead just gave out the roles from left to right. This gave us the teams of

Rose, Denali and La La Ri

Utica, Olivia and Gottmik

Kandy and Symone

Tina Burner and Elliott

Anything could happen in this improv challenge and this type of task really draws out the witty quick Queens from those who are in their heads. I will do a quick review of each of the teams and how I feel they performed.

Rose, Denali and La La Ri - I actually think Rose stole the show and had the best characterisation down, she was the quickest and seemed to know what she was doing the most. Sadly for La La she looked a little lost. She actually did better doing improv when the Queens were getting ready for the main stage and created their remake of the over the top shows like Jerry Springer. If she had brought that La La she could have been in the top.

Utica, Olivia and Gottmik - After Utica and Olivia did the most polite fight for a role ever seen in history, you knew it wasn’t going to go well for Utica. Olivia clearly stood out the most and although I think Gottmik blended into the background most of Olivias jokes were helped by Gottmik’s commentary.

Kandy and Symone - Kandy chose to take Michelle’s advice and tone it down. I must admit I wasn't as sold and it could have been better (maybe if she was partnered with someone else who had energy like Tina). However, when put with Symone both met each other half way (energy wise) and kept control to their little section. Rather than going for mad chaos which is the tactic most of the time in these types of challenges.

Tina Burner and Elliott - Tina stole the show for sure and Elliott struggled to keep up with Tina’s huge act and character. There were moments I just wanted to say throw yourself into it girl. Like when Tina sat on her face, I personally too wouldn’t have wanted it but she looked like she couldn’t wait to get out from under there. Their story was meant to be lovers but it didn’t come across that way.

For the main stage we have the category of ‘Bead It’. Some really creative and put together looks this week. Some of my favourites included Symone and Utica and Denali but my overall favourite was Kandy!

This is the best Kandy has looked for me. This look was stunning and really made me gasp when she walked out. My only critique, she couldn't move very well in it. She was walking so slow like hat don’t fall off my head. But I can forgive that as it gave me chance to look at it more and more!

My winner this week would have to be in agreement with Ru, Olivia did steal it for sure. My bottoms would have been La La Ri and Elliott too. It was so nearly Utica but her looked kept her safe for me.

When Ru announced these two as the bottom two I was ready for the lip sync to be one for the history books. La La Ri has killed her lip syncs and we know Elliott is a dancer. When it came to it though for me only Elliott really fought to stay and that reflected in Ru’s final judgement and La La Ri was sent home.
