RuPaul's Drag Race Holland Season 2 - Episode 2 Review
Before we jump into this remember there are spoilers below if you haven’t watched the episode yet. All the comments below are just my fun opinion, its a TV show don’t get upset if I didn’t like your favourite Queen!
I didn’t think that Friday feeling could get any better but now as Drag Race Holland Season 2 drops then, I have been proved wrong! So, without further ado lets dive into our review of episode 2!
Episode 2 starts with the Queens walking back into the werqroom after the first elimination of Juicy Kutoure’s to read their mirror message. After wiping it off the Queens de-drag and enter the werqroom for another day and another challenge. When Fred joins the Queens he gives them just 30 minutes to get into quick drag and be ready for a photoshoot. The theme for the photoshoot was a lovely Holland scene, the Queens were asked to jump onto a bike (OUCHY for those that tucked) and peddle away without a care in the world. What they didn’t realise is part way Fred recreated some of Hollands weather typical for the Queens and in came the wind machine and hose pipe spraying the Queens with water. The challenge was to still pose and look good which some of the Queens forgot! To be honest most of the Queens did well, I couldn’t imagine having that surprise and still looking ‘sexy’, I struggle without those elements.
Fred then tells the Queens that their maxi challenge is a sewing challenge, with a theme of ‘Glamping Couture’ using well… camping materials of course. As the Countess won the mini challenge she gets a head start before the real frenzy starts! The Queens all scramble to pull materials for their looks and then get creative. During that time some of the Queens have a few heart to hearts but its best watched to get the full story.
After working for a full day the Queens return to finish their looks and get ready for the runway. Before they do they gather at the tables and discuss who is the trade of the season. Most of the Queen agree on My Little Puny (which yeah I would agree with) but then they discuss how as a community (the LGBTQIA+ community that is) don’t want people to put them in boxes, but then we do it to each other anyway! I actually really liked this open discussion and its true, if you don’t have abs and live for the gym then its almost like you aren’t a ‘good' gay’ or your one of the failed one. The Queens move on get ready for the runway.
On the runway my favourite look was the Countess hands down. No one could touch her, the look she created with fake grass, a inflatable crocodile and some leaves was incredible. Everyone eyes were on Vilandi which I do see why as what she created was technically good. But she was missing the ‘fashion’ forwardness needed to steal this challenge win.
I also think Vanessa Van Cartier did really well and should have been the other top of the week. My least favourites were the same as the judges if I’m honest… Ivy, Reggy and Tabitha who are the three bottoms of the week. Tabitha is saved by Fred meaning the other two lip sync for their lives. I’m not sure if it was the song but it wasn’t the best lip sync in my opinion. It seemed a little bit messy and like the two Queens didn’t know what to do with the song. Ivy in my opinion was better and embodied the song more and Fred seemed to agree with sadly the twink of the season Reggy B being sent home. It is a shame but with the talent so high in this season each Queen going home is going to be tough to see.
Another great episode form the Holland Queens and I can’t wait for next Friday and the third!
